Haaspoort Activities

Karoo Farm Things to Do

All hiking, mountain biking, 4×2 self-drive routes and 4×4 trails are marked with maps and interesting information available on each route.

Guests can explore the reserve in the comfort of their own vehicles – plains game that can be spotted include kudu, nyala, sable, zebra, klipspringer, impala, blesbok, mountain reedbuck, springbok and various other smaller animals. Caracal, aardvark and porcupine are occasionally seen in the late afternoon.

The reserve is a birders’ paradise with over 100 species recorded. Visit the black eagles’ nest and experience the thrill of seeing these raptors hunt up close.

Haaspoort is home to a large variety of rare plants and succulents such as the prehistoric “Elephant’s Foot” and cycads.

The legendary “Zeekoiegat”, a natural waterhole in a valley on the reserve, is the perfect place to cool off after an exhilarating hike. An interesting historical feature as it is believed that this is where the last of the Karoo’s hippos once roamed.

Reconnect with your family around the campfire, away from the pressures of modern life. Play board games and gaze into the endless Karoo night sky.
